Don’t forget to visit Guidance or their page on the school’s website to keep yourself informed. There is information on scholarships, college applications, senior class events and so much more. 

 

CLUB NEWS

 

 Biology Club.

 

  • If you want to join, you must bring a donation for the local animal shelter. So, bring puppy food, kitten food or cat litter. Donations , which are kind of like your application, are due by Sept 1st (That’s next week) to Mrs. Knox in room 3109. 

 

  • If you were in Biology club last year, you must re-apply to be a part of this year’s club. 

 

See Mrs. Knox or any science teacher for more information on Biology Club.

If you are interested in joining or if you are already a member of Student Council 

 

You need to plan to attend a meeting on Tuesday September 5th @ 6:30 pm in the library.

If you like to serve our school and community, especially alongside people with special needs and developmental disabilities, you might consider joining Junior Civitans.

 

Junior Civitan’s first meeting is this coming Tuesday at 3:15 in room 6206. This meeting is for those who are interested and those who were members last year. 

 

The sponsor for Junior Civitans is Mrs. Beach and her room is upstairs in Wing 6 if you want more information.

National Honor Society is not open to new members at this time. But,  

 

Senior National Honor Society members listen up, 

 

The mandatory fall meeting is tonight at 6  in the auditorium

Chase Leadership Academy will hold orientation for 11th and 12th graders interested in joining CLA at 1:00 today in the library. That’s in just a few hours!!

We have two clubs on campus now that use similar letters in their names. One of those is

FCS —-which stands for Fellowship of Christian Students.

FCS will start having meetings this coming Wednesday. Meetings are held in the New Gym and start at 7:15 am. Everyone is welcome to attend. 

Actually, FCS  has already started working. They recently held a Senior Sunrise. If you are a  senior and you missed out,  you should check that out.

Another WMHS club that is accepting applications is Key Club.

 

Applications are available outside room 3103 and are due by September 5th. 

If you are a member from last year, you need to re-apply and if you are interested, you should apply.

Did you know that we have a club for people who enjoy playing Board Games? 

 

The Board Game Club will have an interest meeting this coming Wednesday after school in the library.

Did you know that we have an Amateur Radio club at WMHS?

 

Well, we do, and if you are interested, you are welcome to join a meeting this Tuesday in the STEM building .

We have a new club on campus. 

  •  FCSS is a space where Spanish-speaking students come together to start their week off brightly. 

  • Their first meeting will be this Monday in room 1113 from 7:15 to 7:40.

And the last club we need to talk about is not really last in anything. 

Our infamous Student Section, which is called RebelNation, will be Showing some spirit at the Jamboree tomorrow night.

 

If you want to be in that section,  

  • The easiest way to join RebelNation is to purchase an athletic pass online. If you do that, you will automatically be a member

  • If you do not purchase an athletic pass, you can join for a small $3.00 fee. Payment can be made in room 3103 (Pickering), 3105 (Nelson), or 4105 (Taylor).

Sports news

 

Football season is officially here. Bayou Jamb is tomorrow night with WM facing Ruston at 8 pm in Rebel Stadium.

You can practice showing your spirit by coming out this afternoon at 4 pm in the new gym to support the Lady Rebels Volleyball Team. This will be the team’s second scrimmage and it has been quite a start to their season. Come cheer these ladies on.

Tennis Tryouts will be held this coming Tuesday from 3:30-4:30. Before you tryout, you must pick up some paperwork from Coach Green before Friday. He is available between 2nd and 5th period in the Old Gym.

School NEWS

 

School pictures for the yearbook will be this coming Tuesday and Wednesday in your English class.

 

Check with your English teacher to find out if you will take pictures Tuesday or Wednesday.

Athletic passes are now on sale through Online School Payments. Athletic Passes are $30 and allow you to attend all home, regular season games for all sports for the entire year. That’s quite a deal.

ASVAB Career Inventory  test will be given on Sept 28th. 


 

You can sign up with your U.S. History teacher, but you need to do that by Sept 8

You can now start signing up for Coach Osborne's driver's ed class online at gorebs.org.   The cost is 295 and you must be 15 and have a TIP Card.  

 

Any questions go see Coach Osborne in the PE gym or cafeteria during lunch.

Just a reminder that school will dismiss early tomorrow because of Bayou Jamb and all the people who will be coming on campus for that event. 

 

The bell should ring at 11:30 and there will be “Grab and Go” lunches available for students as they leave.

West Monroe High School has opened a Care Closet. 

 

The Care Closet is for students in need and will have some clothes, hygiene products, and plenty of school supplies. 

 

If you do not have access to any of these items, check with any of your teachers to get the link to registration form.

 

You can also visit Mrs. Johnson in Student Services, Miss Boutwell in room 1222 or Mrs. Walker in room 1217.

Do you know another language?

Do you want to take a test to receive your world language credits for graduation?


Well, the AAPPL (apple) test will be given Monday, Sept 25. The cost of the test is $20 and you must register by September 18.

 

Depending upon your test score, you could receive up to 4 high school credits and qualify for the Louisiana Seal of Biliteracy.
